The first 24" all aluminium frame built for the rigours of MUni and trials riding.
Strengths
At 636g for a frame that'll take a big beefy 24x3" tyre you just gotta smile when you hold the frame in your hand. It is soooo light!
The "C" model has been designed to take 40mm OD bearings and accommodate the width of a Profile hub. Put these two things into a single uni and you've got yourself a seriously tough yet light weight monster.
It looks the dogs boll... um... bees knees.
The machined bearing holders are a work of art in themselves. They hold the bearings very well which helps to prolong their lifespan.
These frames have been made by a perfectionist - and it shows. Scott has spent a long time working on and perfecting the design of this frame. A quote from the man himself, "... I indeed had to kiss a lot of toads to get to the princess".
Weaknesses
No brake mounts - not a weakness for me as I don't want to add the extra weight and face plant potential that a brake would bring me.
It has a rounded crown so one footed tricks and gliding ain't as easy as it could be with a flat crown. Again, this is no bad thing for me as I use it for MUni and trials riding where not having a crown to jab you in the leg is only a boost.
Overall
Every rider has their own set of requirements from a frame depending on their particular riding style. The Wilder 6160 suits me down to the ground: light weight, rigid, fits a Profile hub and looks fantastic.
Should a flat crown for gliding and a brake be a definite requirement for you then go for a KH24 frame... but then your name would be Kris Holm and you wouldn't need to ;) However, If you want the lightest production frame around (at the time of writing - Jan 2002) that will see you through hard rides then I can only say, "Get a Wilder"... and I'd probably keep saying it until you told me to shut my gob already ;)
Big thanks to Scott at Muniac.com for his time spent developing and producing a truely cutting edge piece of unicycle technology. This is a real step in the right direction!
