Carbon Fiber Seat Base

Strengths

Being made of carbon fiber the seat base is both incredibly strong and light in weight.

The base is also completely rigid which, when compared to the plastic Miyata seat base, means there's no flex in the seat when hopping. This gives you a much more positive feel. I didn't really notice this until I tried a standard Miyata seat  but the difference is pretty amazing.

The fact that you have to drill your own holes means you have a certain amount of freedom an the angle of the seat once mounted. It also allows the fitting of a Unicycle Handle and / or a Wilder Rail Seat Post Bracket which allows using standard bicycle seat posts and adjusting the tild of your seat.

Weaknesses

The seat base arrives with no holes drilled for the seat post or Miyata bumpers. This isn't really a weakness as the base can be drilled to use a standard Viscount style seat post. It is a pain to drill and file down the 9 holes (10 for an air seat conversion) required for a Miyata style setup though!

I'd also recommend filing the outside edges of the base where the seat cover wraps under. These edges are quite sharp and can cut in to your seat cover over time so filing them down so they are smoother should stop this and make grabbing the seat for seat our moves less painful on the grabbing hands fingers.

Overall

It ain't cheap but if you're serious about your riding then get one of these in your seat!
