24x3" Dyno "Fireball" Tyre
A big fat 24x3" tyre ideally suited for trials... but not in the wet though.
|
Strengths
For a 24x3" tyre this thing is way lighter than any other of it's size. This is mainly down to the thin side walls.
The slick tread grips real well on just about anything but loose or muddy dirt.
For stealth riding the Fireball is the tyre for you - it is so quiet.
Weaknesses
The side walls are pretty thin so you need to pump it up to a higher PSI rating than you would a downhill tyre otherwise you'll e bottoming out on your rim or pinch flatting any time you jump.
With the slick tread the Fireball ain't too happy in the wet or in muddy conditions.
They are hard to get hold of. The company the produces them has filed for "Chapter 11" so the future of this great tyre is in doubt. Hopefully all will come good in the end.
Overall
The Fireball comes from Dyno Kustom Kruisers - the Harleys of the bicycle world - and were brought to the attention of the unicycle trials world by Kris Holm. For a 24" trials uni this tyre will save you a good deal on weight which is great for jumping. The grip is real good for standard trials objects but not so good if you want to take it off road. So, if you've got yourself a dedicated 24" trials uni (or don't mind swapping tyres for MUni) try and track down one of these puppies - you'll love it.
