20" Monty Trials Custom Unicycle MkII

Strengths

What are the strengths of this uni? Strength strangely enough! The Profile splined hub and 145mm cranks, Monty rim and carbon fiber seat are all near indestructible... so they say.

The stiffness of the cranks coupled with knowing they won't bend at the first thought of a 3' drop does wonders for confidence levels as well as the landing part.

The air seat's real comfortable with an air pillow  and leather seat cover . The handle is also a great addition to a great seat.

The Monty rim is very wide and very strong so it shouldn't become a taco any time soon. The Monty X-Lite tyre is big, fat, bouncy and much lighter than the all black version .

Weaknesses

This thing cost... a lot! Worth every penny though. The Profile hub and cranks are heavy. That's the price you pay for their strength though and the lightness of the Monty X-Lite tyre offsets this although not completely.

The frame and pedals are a weak point although not so much the frame as they are generally very hard to break anyway.

Overall

I bought my first Monty unicycle almost a year before this one. Since then I've bent a vast number of cranks from many many repeated drops. This is what drove me nuts and to investing in the Profile setup. If I'd known in the first place it would've  made sense to shell out the extra cash in the first place... but 145mm splined cranks weren't available at the time.

This thing really rocks is a cheesy way of putting it but when you're in love that sort of thing doesn't matter ;) So, if you like 20" trials or know you'll love it, I'd say spend the extra and get a splined Profile hub and cranks. You won't regret it. Promise!
